Florida State leads all ACC teams in ESPN’s returning production metric, which was updated on Tuesday morning.

The metric is put together Bill Connelly, who is the inventor of ESPN’s SP+. Connelly’s numbers have the Seminoles at No. 41 in returning offensive production and No. 2 in returning defensive production.

Florida State does lose pass rusher Jermaine Johnson II, but the formula weighs returning production in the secondary significantly more than on the defensive line.

FSU is returning 100 percent of its interceptions from last season and 88.64 percent of its pass deflections, according to an analysis done by Saturday Road. Jammie Robinson, Omarion Cooper, Travis Jay and Jarvis Brownlee are all returning for next season.

Percent returning of passes defended makes up 28 percent of the defensive returning production formula, Connelly said.

Florida State also returns 83.56 percent of its total tackles, which makes up 59 percent of ESPN’s formula.

Offensively, Florida State is still in good shape but isn’t in the elite tier. The Seminoles return quarterback Jordan Travis, running back Treshaun Ward and 60 percent of their offensive line starts from last season.

ESPN will release its full pre-spring SP+ rankings on Wednesday.
