Florida State loses commitment to SEC rival

Florida State suffered a tough loss on the recruiting trail on Monday night.

The Noles lost longtime offensive line commit Roderick Kearney to Florida.

“Florida State has been my top school since I’ve been going through the recruiting process,” Kearney said. “I’ve spent a lot of time praying and discussing with my family about my college career, and it has lead me elsewhere.”

This has been in the works for the last few weeks, as Kearney took a visit to Gainesville back in September.

Florida State is now down to 15 commitments in the class of 2023. The group ranks No. 19 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

FSU is also now down to just one offensive lineman in this cycle — 4-star offensive lineman Lucas Simmons.

On Monday, coach Mike Norvell told reporters he was getting good feedback from recruits across the region. The Seminoles will be looking to add to this class in a significant way before the end of the cycle.
