Florida State defensive back Demorie Tate will enter the transfer portal, he announced on Sunday afternoon.

Tate is a former top prospect and spent three seasons with the Seminoles. Here’s his announcement:

Tate was the No. 35 overall player in the country for the class of 2020, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He was FSU’s top-ranked player in that cycle. Other prospects from that class include Lawrance Toafili, Robert Scott Jr. and Ja’Khi Douglas.

Despite his high pedigree as a prospect, he never made an impact on the field at Florida State. He didn’t record any statistics over three seasons in Tallahassee.

While Florida State has continued to lose players in the portal, it has also been effective at finding talent there as well. The Noles have already made three portal additions in this class: tight end Jaheim Bell, tight end Kyle Morlock and defensive lineman Darrell Jackson.

Florida State could look to add additional help in the secondary as well for this cycle.

FSU is set to face Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl later this month.
