Florida State’s 24-23 win over LSU on Sunday night was enough to move the Seminoles into the top 30 of CBS Sports’ weekly college football rankings.

FSU is now No. 29 in the CBS Sports 131. The Noles moved up 21 spots this week, which was second only to Syracuse (+35). The Orange blew out Louisville 31-7 on Saturday.

Here’s some analysis on Florida State from CBS Sports’ Chip Patterson:

“Now 2-0 with a quality nonconference win against an SEC opponent, you can feel the tide starting to turn for Mike Norvell and the Seminoles. If the mistakes at the goal line had caused Florida State to lose, we’d carry over the same expectations from previous seasons, but emerging victorious with solid quarterback play and a great defensive front has this team showing top-30 quality early in the season.”

Florida State is now 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2016. Quarterback Jordan Travis has been great so far, as have a number of FSU’s transfer portal additions from the offseason.

One of those addition, Jared Verse, blocked a field goal vs. LSU and was named ACC defensive lineman of the week for his 2-sack performance.

Florida State is off in Week 2 but is preparing to face Louisville on the road in Week 3.
