Florida State makes top-10 cut for key in-state target, 4-star DB for 2024

Florida State is working on putting together the 2024 recruiting class under head coach Mike Norvell. On Wednesday, another key target made cuts to his list and the Seminoles are still in the mix.

The player is Cai Bates, a 4-star cornerback out of Edgewater High School in Orlando. Florida State was featured on Bates’ list alongside other in-state programs in Florida and UCF. Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, Colorado, Texas A&M and Maryland round out Bates’ list.

Listed at 6-foot-1.5 and 180 pounds, the 247 Sports Composite rates Bates as a 4-star prospect and the No. 17 CB nationally for the 2024 recruiting class. He’s also the 32nd overall prospect out of Florida for the cycle.

As things currently stand, FSU has 11 players committed for the cycle with 7 players with at least a 4-star rating. We’ll see if the Seminoles can add Bates to that group moving forward.
