Florida State moves up multiple spots in ESPN’s Week 13 power rankings

Florida State moved up three spots in ESPN’s latest power rankings.

The Seminoles are now No. 13 nationally — just one spot behind Clemson for the top ranking in the ACC after W

eek 13. Florida State won a tight game over Florida over the weekend.

That victory against the Gators means FSU ends the regular season on a five-game winning streak. Record-wise, this is Florida State’s best season since 2016.

Here’s some analysis from ESPN’s Andrea Adelson:

Jordan Travis put the Seminoles on his back with some eye-dropping — and gravity-defying — runs to help Florida State beat rival Florida 45-38 in one of the best games in the history of the rivalry. Travis threw for 270 yards and a score and ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns, as once again the Seminoles found success on the ground. Florida State has seven straight games with 200 rushing yards for the first time since 1987 and has won five straight for the first time since 2016 — the last time the Seminoles beat in-state rivals Miami and Florida in the same season.

Florida State will now await its bowl destination. It’s possible the Noles could earn an at-large berth in a New Y

ear’s Six bowl.

Clemson’s loss to South Carolina ensures the ACC won’t make the Playoff and means Florida State has no path to the Orange Bowl. But the Seminoles could have a path to the Cotton Bowl — and losses from Notre Dame and Oregon in Week 13 certainly helped.

FSU’s bowl hopes will have more clarity after the next CFP committee rankings are revealed on Tuesday night.
