Florida State picked up a very interesting commitment on Sunday afternoon.

The Seminoles added 4-star offensive lineman Roderick Kearney to their 2023 class.

Here’s his announcement:

This is a big addition on its own — Kearney is a 4-star prospect — but the timing of this decision is what’s most interesting.

According to Gators reporter Zach Goodall, Kearney was only a half hour removed from being in Gainesville for his official visit to Florida.

Count this as a major recruiting win for Florida State. The Orange Park, Fla., native also had offers from programs like LSU, Clemson and Georgia, amongst others.

He’s the No. 128 overall player and the No. 6 interior offensive lineman in the country for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 27 player from the state of Florida.

Here’s highlights from Kearney’s high school tape:

Kearney and other 2023 prospects can officially sign with a program during the Early Signing Period in December.
