Florida State backup quarterback Chubba will enter the transfer portal, he announced on Wednesday afternoon.

“I want to thank the Seminole fans and Florida State community for all their support during my time at Florida State,” Purdy wrote. “After careful consideration and a discussion with my family I will be moving on toward new beginnings. With that said I will be entering the transfer portal. Thank you and God Bless.”

Here’s his statement:

Purdy appeared in four games for the Seminoles across two seasons. He completed 55.2 percent of his passes for 317 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Purdy suffered a broken collarbone injury last November that required four surgeries in an eight month span, according to The Athletic’s Max Olson. He’s completed all 5 of his passes and threw 2 touchdowns in FSU’s win over UMass this season. That is his only appearance for the Seminoles in 2021.

He was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2020, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He was ranked as the No. 7 dual threat quarterback and the No. 192 overall player.

It’s unclear where Purdy is headed next, but he hails from Gilbert, Arizona, so a move out west could make sense.

Florida State has one of the nation’s top quarterbacks in the country for the class of 2022 already committed in 4-star AJ Duffy. He will be able to officially sign with the Seminoles during the Early Signing Period in December.

FSU hosts NC State on Saturday.
