Florida State RB Rodney Hill amongst players who will benefit from new NCAA rule
The NCAA has announced a one-time waiver that will allow FBS players to feature in bowl games without exceeding the four-game limit for maintaining redshirt status.
The rule means players like Florida State freshman running back Rodney Hill will be able to play in the postseason while keeping their redshirt intact. Hill played in four regular season games in 2022.
Here are the details of the change:
NCAA has issued a one-time blanket waiver, in FBS football, to exempt postseason participation from the limit of 4 contests a student-athlete may participate in w/o using a season of competition. The blanket waiver is applicable to FBS postseason gms that occur after Dec 15, 2022

Hill has a promising future with Florida State. Being able to play in the Cheez-It Bowl against Oklahoma without sacrificing his redshirt year is a big benefit for the former 3-star prospect.
As a true freshman in 2022, Hill carried the ball 27 times for 144 yards and 1 touchdown. He scored in his first career game against Duquesne back in Week 0.
Florida State is expected to have its full stable of running backs available for this game against the Sooners. Trey Benson, Treshaun Ward and Lawrance Toafili are all expected to play in the game.
FSU and Oklahoma kickoff at 5:30 p.m. ET on Dec. 29.
