Florida State running back Trey Benson is returning to FSU for the 2023 season.

That’s huge news for the Seminoles, as Benson developed into arguably the team’s best running back option over the second half of the season.

Here’s Benson’s announcement:

Benson would have been eligible to enter the 2023 NFL Draft. Instead, he will play in Florida State’s bowl game and return to Tallahassee for his fourth season of college football.

He totaled 965 yards for Florida State during the regular season. He became FSU’s top running back in October and November as Treshaun Ward dealt with a shoulder injury. Benson scored 9 touchdowns and averaged 6.8 yards per play.

Benson joins a growing number of Seminoles who have pledged to return to the team in 2023. Quarterback Jordan Travis, linebacker Tatum Bethune, linebacker Kalen DeLoach and left tackle Robert Scott are all set to return next year.

Florida State faces Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl later this month.
