Florida State is adding an intriguing running back to its 2022 roster this week, according to a report.

Former Penn State running back Caziah Holmes enrolled at Florida State on Monday after entering the transfer portal earlier this offseason.

247Sports’ Chris Hummer was first to report this development.

Holmes was a blue-chip prospect in the class of 2020. He was ranked as the No. 5 all-purpose running back in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings

He made multiple trips to Tallahassee during his recruitment in 2019 — Mike Norvell’s first offseason in charge.

Florida State has some depth at running back, so it seems unlikely Holmes will be able to make an impact this season. Treshaun Ward, Lawrence Toafili and Trey Benson each rushed for over 100 yards in Week 0. True freshman Rodney Hill also scored a touchdown in that game.

However, Holmes is still an intriguing addition for the Noles — especially this late in the process. He leaves Penn State with 254 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in his career, with the bulk of that production coming during his true freshman season in 2020.

Florida State has not yet confirmed Holmes’ arrival.
