Florida State made a lot of progress with 5-star receiver Hykeem Williams over the weekend, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, who says some “sources” believe FSU is now the team to beat for Williams’ signature.

“Hykeem Williams, a major target,” Wiltfong said in a video for 247Sports. I’m really starting to like where Florida State is sitting with him. “There are sources that think Florida State is the one to beat right now.”

Wiltfong did add that Texas A&M is still his pick to land Williams — for now. Williams is scheduled to take a visit to College Station prior to his commitment.

He’s the No. 19 overall player and the No. 3 receiver in this class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He attends Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Williams was in the Superdome for Florida State’s 24-23 victory over LSU on Sunday night. He’s one of FSU’s top remaining targets on the board for the class of 2023.

“Florida State getting a win with him in the building was critical for them ultimately landing one of the nation’s top pass catchers,” Wiltfong added.

Overall, Florida State has 14 commitments in this cycle. Its group ranks No. 23 nationally, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

Williams will announce his commitment on Sept. 23.
