Florida State continues to generate positive buzz around the recruitment of 5-star receiver Hykeem Williams.

Williams was in the building for FSU’s 24-23 win over LSU in Week 1. While he couldn’t interact with Florida State coaches because it was a neutral site game, the Noles seemingly still made a lot of progress in his recruitment.

On3’s Chad Simmons said in a video on Thursday that Florida State has been “gaining momentum” for Williams’ commitment.

“The word is strong around Florida State,” Simmons said. “They’ve been picking up some momentum really since he was there for a multi-day trip in late July.”

Simmons said that one of FSU’s recruiting pitches has been the potential of earning early playing time.

“I think Hykeem sees a great opportunity there to play at Florida State early,” Simmons added. “I think he has a great connection to the coaching staff. And obviously that win [over LSU] was huge. He was there, he felt a lot of love from the fanbase in New Orleans from Florida State.”

Williams is a 5-star prospect and the No. 19 overall player in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

He has an offer from virtually every top program in the country, but Texas A&M appears to be the Noles’ biggest competition. Florida State does have an advantage in proximity — he attends Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Williams is scheduled to announce his commitment on Sept. 23.
