Florida State reportedly sets bowl destination, matchup vs. blue blood program

Florida State is headed to the Cheez-It Bowl, according to a report.

That’s per college football insider Brett McMurphy, who says the Noles will be facing off against Oklahoma in the Orlando-based game.

Florida State has appeared in this bowl game multiple times over the last several decades. However, FSU’s last appearance in this bowl game was in 2011 when it was known as the Champs Sports Bowl.

The Noles defeated Penn State in the first-ever iteration of this bowl back in 1990 when it was the Blockbuster Bowl. Florida S

tate is 3-0 all-time in this bowl game.

The Seminoles, however, have not had the same level of success against Oklahoma. The Sooners have won six straight games in this series. Perhaps most notably, OU defeated Florida State in the 2001 BCS National Championship Game.

The 2022 Cheez-It Bowl will be played on Thursday, Dec. 29. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. ET.
