Florida State pass rusher Jermaine Johnson II is officially headed to the NFL.

He made that announcement on Thursday afternoon:

This move was expected, as Johnson is slated to be a high selection in next year’s NFL Draft. Johnson led the ACC in both sacks and tackles for loss this season.

He was one of the lone bright spots in a disappointing season for the Seminoles. They finished the year at 5-7, but Johnson was still named ACC Defensive Player of the Year by the league earlier this month.

With expectations rising for Mike Norvell in year 3, one of his biggest tasks this offseason will be figuring out how to replace Johnson’s production. He compiled 11.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss this season — his first and only campaign with the Seminoles.

For Johnson, the next step is the NFL Draft Combine which is scheduled for this upcoming spring.
