Florida State defensive end Jared Verse picked up a key sack in the Noles’ loss to Wake Forest over the weekend.

The sack was a potential momentum-shifter as it forced Wake Forest to kick a field goal late in the first half — which it missed. However, Florida State was unable to cash in with points of its own on the ensuing drive.

Still, it was a notable play in the record books. It was Verse’s 4th sack of the season, which means he still leads the ACC in that category on a per-game basis.

Only Louisville’s YaYa Diaby has more sacks so far this season. He’s picked up 4.5 in 4 games.

Verse is one of just 13 players in the entire country who is averaging 1 sack per game so far this season. Arkansas’ Drew Sanders leads the country with 1.3 sacks per game.

Verse played on a limited snap count against Wake Forest or he may have been able to pick up an addition sack. He’s still recovering from a knee injury he suffered vs. Louisville back in Week 3.

Florida State faces NC State on the road this week.
