Florida State defeated North Florida 86-73 on Thursday afternoon in Tallahassee, giving the Seminoles their fifth consecutive victory.

Guard Caleb Mills was great once again as he led the way with 21 points. Mills also had a team-high 4 assists in the game. His recent hot streak has coincided with Florida State’s five straight wins.

The win propels FSU into a pivotal matchup with Miami on Saturday. If Florida State wins that game, it will be in a tie with the Hurricanes for the top spot in the ACC standings.

FSU will also put its streak of eight consecutive wins over Miami on the line on Saturday. FSU defeated the Hurricanes in Tallahassee back on Jan. 11.

Florida State is currently battling to improve its résumé for the NCAA Tournament selection committee. The Seminoles didn’t pick up any notable wins in nonconference play, but have been impressive so far vs. ACC opponents. Their only conference loss came on Jan. 4 against Wake Forest on the road.

Tipoff vs. Miami on Saturday is at 2:00 p.m. ET.
