Florida State WR Mycah Pittman compares QB Jordan Travis to Justin Herbert

Florida State wide receiver Mycah Pittman has been very impressed with quarterback Jordan Travis so far this offseason.

On Friday morning, Pittman — who transferred to FSU from Oregon — said some of the throws that Travis has made during fall camp reminded him of former Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert.

“He’s been super impressive. I told him I haven’t seen a guy like him since J-Herb days. I’m not even trying to gas my guy up, he’s literally that impressive to me,” Pittman told reporters on Friday. “Seeing the throws he makes, seeing what he can do on the run, seeing how agile and quick he is to get out the pocket … it’s second to none. This man is super impressive, and I’m here to help him and help him win some football games.”

Herbert, of course, went on to become a first round pick in the NFL Draft and is now considered to be one of the best passers in the league. He also led Oregon to a Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin in his final collegiate game. Pittman had 4 catches for 30 yards in that game, too.

Pittman is expected to be a key figure in Florida State’s offense this season. He had an excellent freshman season with Oregon in 2019, but has been limited to just 11 games over the past 2 seasons.

Travis took over Florida State’s starting job midway through last season and never looked back. He helped FSU win 5 of its last 8 games after starting the season 0-4.

If Travis does take another leap this season as Pittman indicates, Florida State could be in position to win 8+ games for the first time since 2016.

Here’s video of Pittman’s media availability on Friday:
