Greg McElroy believes Florida State is nearly a “lock” to reach the College Football Playoff.

McElroy evaluated FSU’s Playoff chances on Always College Football on Monday. The Seminoles enter Week 10 with an 8-0 record and a strong strength-of-schedule. McElroy also pointed out that FSU is likely to be a comfortable favorite in each of its remaining games.

Florida State will finish out the regular season with Pitt, Miami, North Alabama and Florida. The Noles will then likely have a meeting with Louisville in the ACC Championship Game.

“It’s real hard for me to envision a scenario where they lose down the stretch,” McElroy said. “So they’re probably about as sure of a thing as just about anybody in college football for the College Football Playoff.

“All I know is Florida State will be a real healthy favorite against pretty much everybody they play. So I think at this point you can almost lock them in to a College Football Playoff berth.”

Here’s video of his comments:

Florida State can clinch its ACC Championship Game berth win a win vs. the Panthers this weekend. FSU has not been on that stage since the 2014 season.

The initial College Football Playoff rankings will be revealed on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. ET.

Kickoff vs. Pitt on Saturday is set for 3:30 ET.
