Florida State defensive end Jared Verse is not expected to return to the Seminoles’ contest with Louisville on Friday night, per a report.

That’s according to 247Sports, who cites a conversation with a program spokesman. Verse left the field after appearing to injure his left knee on a play in the first half.

Here’s a glimpse of what happened:

Losing Verse is a major problem for Florida State’s defense. Verse, a former Albany transfer, entered this week tied for the ACC’s lead in sacks (3) and tackles for loss (4).

It’s been a tough injury night for Florida State. Quarterback Jordan Travis and linebacker Tatum Bethune also left the game with an injury. Bethune was eventually able to return to the lineup.

Florida State trails Louisville 21-14 at the half.
