Jared Verse tells incredible story about game-ending sack in Cheez-It Bowl
Jared Verse capped off Florida State’s Cheez-It Bowl win with a sack to end the game.
Without any timeouts remaining, Oklahoma was unable to run a fourth-down play after Verse and Dennis Briggs Jr. combined to bring down OU quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
The play sealed the 35-32 victory for Florida State, its 10th of the season. But the most interesting thing about the play was an exchange Verse says he had with Oklahoma right tackle Tyler Guyton.
In the postgame press conference, Verse told reporters that Guyton was talking trash about his NFL future prior to the game-ending sack. As Verse tells the story, he responded by saying ‘watch this’ before the final play.
Before the last play of the game an Oklahoma tackle told Jared Verse that he’d never make it to the NFL.
Verse said “watch this” and got the game winning sack to put the game away on the next play. #Noles

Verse finished the game with six tackles, 1.5 sacks and two tackles for loss. As a team, Florida State was credited with six sacks on the night.
It was an impressive performance for a Florida State pass rush that was effective for most of the season. Oklahoma attempted just 24 passes in-part because of the Noles’ dominance up front in the passing game.
Verse has another year of eligibility remaining, but he also could decide to head to the NFL. He’s expected to make a decision in the coming days.
