Jordan Travis said this week that he felt responsible for Florida State’s exclusion from the College Football Playoff.
The Noles became the first-ever undefeated Power-5 champion to be left out of the CFP. The selection committee said it had concerns about FSU’s quarterback play following Jordan Travis’ season-ending injury in mid-November.
This week at the East-West Shrine Bowl, Travis told The Athletic’s Chris Vannini
that he felt the snub was his “fault.”
“It felt like it was my fault,” Travis told The Athletic. “That was probably the worst feeling I’ve had in a long time in my life. That sucked, for sure. I feel like I let a lot of people down.”
Travis went down with his season-ending leg injury during FSU’s penultimate game of the regular season. Tate Rodemaker and Brock Glenn were able to win FSU’s n
ext two games over Florida and Louisville, respectively, but it wasn’t enough to impress the CFP selection committee.
Travis told The Athletic that he recently got off crutches as he continues to recovery from the injury. He’s hoping to be back on the field and throwing again before the 2024 NFL Draft in April.
As a result of the CFP’s decision, Florida State has still not made the College Football Playoff since 2014. With the Playoff expanding to 12 teams next season, FSU is once again expected to contend for a spot in the postseason.
