Keon Coleman explains why he chose to transfer to Florida State

Keon Coleman had plenty of potential suitors after entering the transfer portal this offseason, but ultimately landed at Florida State.

Coleman met with reporters on Wednesday morning in Tallahassee and explained why he picked the Noles.

“Just the culture that they’ve been building over the past few years,” Coleman said. “Out of high school, they were recruiting me pretty hard. They have a great quarterback, great receiver room and most of all I love the coaching staff. They got 90 percent of the team coming back this year so we have a chance to do something very special and I just wanted to be a part of that.”

Coleman joins a Florida State offense that returns quarterback Jordan Travis, running back Trey Benson, receiver Johnny Wilson and multiple starters along the offensive line.

He was a breakout player as a sophomore in 2022 for Michigan State. He caught 58 passes for 798 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. Along with Wilson, Florida State has one of the most formidable wide receiver tandems in the country for 2023.

Florida State has signed 10 transfers so far this offseason. The group ranks No. 6 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
