LSU’s starting quarterback choice is Arizona State transfer Jayden Daniels, according to a report.

That decision was reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz on Sunday afternoon. LSU coach Brian Kelly was hoping to avoid any leaks up until kickoff vs. Florida State. He called it a “tactical advantage” to not announce the starting quarterback prior to kickoff.

Daniels, a transfer from Arizona State, had more than 3,000 combined offensive yards, with 16 total touchdowns for the Sun Devils in 2021.

Last season, he completed 65.4% of his passes for 2,381 yards and 10 touchdowns. The QB had been competing with Garrett Nussmeier for the starting position, and it was widely speculated that Daniels held the lead through fall camp.

Florida State will counter with Jordan Travis, who has played in 23 career games for the Seminoles.

The Tigers are listed as 4-point favorites, and will meet Florida State in New Orleans on Sunday night on ABC.
