Florida State escaped Chestnut Hill with a 31-29 win on Saturday afternoon over Boston College.

FSU’s defense struggled all game long, giving up 457 yards of total offense to the Eagles. Boston College went 8-for-19 on 3rd down and 4-for-5 on 4th down.

Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos was dominant, throwing for 305 yards on just 30 attempts. He also rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Boston College nearly erased a 15-point deficit in the 4th quarter. FSU was out-scored 13-0 in the final stanza as it was never able to re-establish an offensive rhythm late in the game. FSU’s final 5 drives included 3 punts and a fumble that was returned for a Boston College touchdown.

If not for the Eagles’ 18 penalties — including a face mask that extended FSU’s final drive — Boston College would have had a great chance to win this game.

Florida State’s offense moved the ball well throughout the game, but couldn’t cash in on key opportunities late in the game. Jordan Travis finished the game with 212 yards and 2 touchdowns. He briefly left the game with an arm injury, but did return in the 2nd half.
