Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski took some time to praise Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton ahead of their pivotal matchup on Tuesday night.

Hamilton has been at FSU since 2002 and has turned the Seminoles into one of the ACC’s most consistent programs. He’s now won over 400 games for Florida State and has led the team to the Sweet 16 — or further — in three consecutive NCAA Tournaments.

Krzyzewski acknowledged his success when speaking with reporters on Monday.

“We should understand what a treasure Leonard has been to the ACC and his program,” Krzyzewski told reporters. “Florida State has always been a good program but he’s made it a national power program. We’re going to have our hands full against their defense.”

Florida State may lack an NBA lottery pick like it has had in recent years with Patrick Williams and Scottie Barnes, but this is still a team that’s capable of giving Duke trouble. The Seminoles have won five of their last six contests, including three in a row.

This is a team that hasn’t lost at home since falling to Syracuse on Dec. 4. Florida State is 6-1 at home this season.

It’s worth noting that Florida State will likely be without one of its best players in forward Malik Osborne. Hamilton said he was “doubtful”

earlier in the week.

If Florida State wins, it will move to 5-2 in ACC play and will be in second place in the conference standings.
