Mike Norvell gave an update in injured running back Treshuan Ward on Wednesday.

Ward left Florida State’s loss to NC State early with an upper body injury back on Oct. 8. He wasn’t able to play the next week vs. Clemson, but did get an addition week of rest with Florida State bye week in Week 8.

However, it’s still unclear if Ward will be healthy enough to play vs. Georgia Tech this weekend.

“Treshaun’s been getting a little bit more participation in what he’s able to do,” Norvell said. “We’ll see where that is as we get to game time.”

Norvell said he’s “further away” from returning that defensive lineman Fabien Lovett, who Norvell called a game-time decision for this weekend’s game.

If Florida State doesn’t have Ward for its contest vs. the Yellow Jackets this weekend, the Noles will likely continue to rely on Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili out of the backfield. Benson is averaging a team-high 6.9 yards per carry while Toafili has a team-high four rushing touchdowns on the year.

Florida State is a significant favorite against Georgia Tech this weekend as it looks to snap a three-game losing streak. Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.
