Florida State defeated Miami 31-28 on Saturday night thanks to a big fourth quarter comeback, a 4th and 14 conversion and a special performance from its best pass rusher.

Jermaine Johnson made sure his impact was felt vs. the Hurricanes, finishing the night with 3 sacks and 5 tackles for loss. His 7 total tackles were second on the team and he also forced a fumble in the win.

Here’s one of Johnson’s tackles for loss vs. Miami:

The Seminoles needed every bit of his performance to keep Miami’s offense in check. The Hurricanes came into this game on a three-game winning streak, which included two wins over ranked opponents.

But Miami had no answer for Johnson’s havoc.

“It was remarkable,” Norvell told reporters when asked about Johnson’s day. “What I love about Jermaine is the attitude and approach that he takes every single day … He played so hard.”

Johnson now has 10.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss on the season. He’s quickly rising up NFL Draft boards and could be in the mix to be one of the first pass rushers off the board in 2022.

For the Seminoles, they’re now 4-6 on the season and have a great chance to achieve bowl eligibility. They close the year with Boston College and Florida.

Florida State and the Eagles kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
