Mike Norvell reacts to Tate Rodemaker’s transfer decision, names starter for Orange Bowl

Mike Norvell hasn’t had the easiest last few games with Florida State.

From losing Jordan Travis for the season, to having Brock Glenn start the ACC Championship against Louisville, it’s been one heck of a ride. Now with Tate Rodemaker reportedly opting for the portal, others transferring, and 2024 NFL Draft declarations, Norvell must prepare for the Orange Bowl with Georgia.

With Rodemaker transferring, Norvell confirmed that Glenn will be making the second start of his career vs. the Bulldogs.

“Brock [Glenn] who started the [ACC] championship game for us is going to be the starter here for the Orange Bowl,” Norvell said.

“Definitely excited to see him take the step from his first start to his second start. A lot of confidence in what he’ll be able to do.”

Norvell was focused on the players who decided to stick with the program at Monday’s presser.

“It’s about the players that are here and the work that they put i

n. I’m grateful for every player that we have,” Norvell said. “Life is full of choices and these guys … like I said the last month has been really challenging, you know coming off the championship game, a lot of emotion, guys having to make tough and challenging decisions, but the guys that are here I know were excited about it and looking forward to the week of preparation and the competition that’s ahead.”

Players like Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, Trey Benson, DJ Lundy, Jaheim Bell, and others won’t be playing in the Orange Bowl. Kickoff from Hard Rock Stadium will be on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.
