Florida State’s season came to an abrupt end on Saturday afternoon as the Seminoles fell 24-21 in Gainesville.
The loss means FSU ends the year at 5-7 and will not be bowl eligible this season, thus marking the end for the Seminoles’ senior class.
After the game on Saturday, coach Mike Norvell took a moment to acknowledge the seniors and their contributions to the program.
“So grateful for all that they did, the leaders that they were,” Norvell told reporters. “They were tremendous.”
Quarterback Jordan Travis also praised the seniors, singling out defensive contributors like Jermaine Johnson II and Keir Thomas.
“They meant everything to this program,” Travis said. “They were the heart and soul of this team …They led by example and they always had your back.”
Florida State fought hard in November, winning games over Miami and Boston College that put it in position to make a bowl with an upset over Florida. Instead, it’s the Gators who will reach the postseason with an interim head coach.
Norvell is expected to return to Tallahassee next season. He is 8-13 in two seasons as Florida State’s head coach.
