Mike Norvell says FSU will 'probably' be without key DL against Wake Forest
Mike Norvell gave an update on injured defensive lineman Dennis Briggs on Tuesday.
The Seminoles are preparing to travel to Winston-Salem this weekend to take on Wake Forest. However, they likely won’t have Briggs available for that contest.
“So Dennis, he was out last week, probably going to be out again this week but we’ll get him back here soon. He’s just unavailable … he got banged up a little bit,” Norvell told reporters on Tuesday.
Briggs also missed last week’s game vs. Duke. When healthy, he’s been a very productive member of Florida State’s defensive line this season. He’s totaled 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks so far this season.
Norvell also discussed the depth of FSU’s defensive line with Briggs likely to miss a second straight game.
“Dennis has played really well, it’ll obviously test a little bit of the depth of what we have but I like that group,” Norvell said. “I think Malcolm Ray’s a guy that’s really kind of come along, Daniel Lyons is pushing to get more opportunities. It’s unfortunate for [Briggs] because he’s been playing really well but excited to get him back soon.”
Florida State and Wake Forest will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
