Mike Norvell talks up Hykeem Williams' future at Florida State: 'You're starting to see the talent really show up'
Mike Norvell is excited about Hykeem Williams’ future at Florida State.
The former 5-star prospect has yet to make a big impact on the field to this point in the season, but that could be changing soon. On Wednesday, Norvell told reporters that Williams is making a lot of progress — physically and mentally — from where he was when he first got on campus.
“He’s continued to to work,” Norvell said. “That’s one of the things I’ve loved about him is that I do think he’s got a good work ethic, a good desire. And now you can see him starting to play faster and play more confident.”
Williams has just one catch so far this season, which came back in the Southern Miss game. Florida State has one of the top wide receiver units in the country with Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman leading the way.
Norvell said Williams has a “great future” ahead of him at Florida State.
“He’s started to learn what to do and not worried so much about his physical condition. And you’re starting to see the talent really show up. I think he’s going to have a great future in front of him. I’m excited to see him continue to grow.”
Williams was the No. 31 overall player and the No. 4 receiver in the country for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Florida State will face Syracuse on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
