Mike Norvell has been impressed with Florida State’s incoming transfers along the defensive line.

Norvell met with reporters on Thursday and covered a variety of topics. The arrival of players like Gilber Edmond from South Carolina and Darrell Jackson from Miami certainly merits excitement for the future of FSU’s defensive line.

“Gilber Edmond has really done a nice job,” Norvell said. “I mean, you feel him as he’s moving. I think he’s done a good job of continuing to gain weight.

“Darrell Jackson, just such an impressive human being in general … to see his work ethic, the growth that he’s made from Day 1 to where it is now is so very impressive.”

Edmond is coming off of a career-best season with the Gamecocks. In 2022, he recorded 39 total tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. He also played for South Carolina in 2020 and 2021.

Jackson is a younger player. He just wrapped up his sophomore campaign with Miami, where he compiled 4.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks. He began his college career at Maryland in 2021.

Florida State is hoping its defensive line makes big strides in 2023.
