Report: Florida State expected to host son of ex-coach Willie Taggart on recruiting visit
JT Taggart, the son of former Florida State coach Willie Taggert, is visiting campus in Tallahassee on Monday according to a report.
That’s per 247Sports’ Zach Blostein, who reports that FSU is also getting a visit from 5-star WR Shelton Sampson.
Taggart is a 2025 recruit, so he’s not yet rated by any major recruiting service. However, he’s shaping up to be a potential elite EDGE recruit in that cycle — he’s already listed at 6-foot-5, 210 pounds.
His father is currently the head coach at Florida Atlantic. He led the Seminoles from 2018-19 but was fired after going 9-12 in two seasons. Taggart also coached South Florida from 2013-16.
His brother, Willie Taggart Jr., is a redshirt freshman quarterback quarterback at Florida Atlantic. He’s yet to throw a collegiate pass but did appear in one game in 2021.
Florida State is entering the third season of the Mike Norvell era. The Seminoles are hoping to build on last season’s 5-7 campaign.
Florida State’s spring game is on April 9.
