This injury unfortunately ends what was becoming one of the best years of Winston’s career. He’s thrown for 14 touchdown passes and just 3 interceptions while leading the NFL with a touchdown rate of 8.7 percent.
The Saints were also excelling as a team and have a 5-2 record on the year. They defeated the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Winston is in his seventh NFL season. The Bucs picked him No. 1 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft following a collegiate career at Florida State that included a National Championship and a Heisman Trophy.
Winston is expected to be a free agent this offseason.
