Scott Van Pelt makes pick against the spread for Florida State vs. Louisville
Scott Van Pelt has released his picks against the spread for championship weekend.
The veteran ESPN host has made picks as part of his weekly “winners” segment all season. This week, the ACC Championship Game made Van Pelt’s card.
He’s going with Louisville +2 in this matchup, although he acknowledged Florida State may need the style points to get into the College Football Playoff.
“Not the ideal spot to take Louisville, as this number has been shrinking, which means we are getting a lousy number relative to where it began,” Van Pelt said. “Also, Florida State knows it needs to show off a bit to be sure they get a spot at the table. That said — on the Cards.”
Florida State enters this game with a 12-0 record. A win would likely put the Noles into the top 4, but it’s not a guarantee. Texas (12-1) looked impressive in a blowout win over No. 18 Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon. An Alabama victory over Georgia would also further complicate matters for FSU, should it get to 13-0.
Florida State may also have to play third-string quarterback Brock Glenn on Saturday against Louisville. Tate Rodemaker, who replaced Jordan Travis in late November due to a leg injury, suffered a concussion in FSU’s win over Florida last week. He’s considered questionable for this contest.
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
