Scott Van Pelt makes prediction in Florida State-NC State showdown

Everyone has an opinion on college football Saturdays. ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt is no different.

Van Pelt is riding high with Florida State Saturday in its anticipated matchup against No. 14 NC State at Carter-Finley Stadium. Van Pelt thinks that after their showing in a 31-21 loss to Wake Forest, the Seminoles’ offense is clicking while the Wolfpack could be trending in the wrong direction.

“We are with the Noles getting a curiously-small number, given the respect, the Wolfpack were shown last week at Clemson,” Van Pelt said. “Kinda makes you wonder, Steve.”

Florida State is a 3-point underdog in Raleigh on Saturday night.

NC State quarterback Devin Leary hasn’t lived up to standard this season. Last week in the Wolfpack’s 30-20 loss against No. 5 Clemson, Leary went 28-of-47 passing for 245 yards, a t

ouchdown, and an interception.

NC State also had a fumble late in the fourth quarter, leading to a 9-yard touchdown run by Tigers’ QB  DJ Uiagalelei.

FSU quarterback Jordan Travis has been the brightest spot of the team’s offense this season. Through 5 games, the junior has thrown for 1,226 yards and 8 touchdowns against 1 interception.

FSU’s rushing attack has been potent as well, averaging 5.3 yards per carry and scoring 12 touchdowns.

Kickoff from Raleigh is set for 8:00 p.m. E.T. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network.
