The former Nole decided to enter the transfer portal after he didn’t re-gain his starting role following his return from an October injury. Ward still finished second on the team in rushing yards behind Trey Benson. Both Mike Norvell and Jordan Travis expressed support for Ward’s decision after he entered the portal.
Kansas State could be a good fit for Ward. The Wildcats had one of the best running backs in the country this season in Deuce Vaughn, but he’s headed to the NFL. Ward would potentially be the feature back at K-State in 2023.
Ward, a Florida native, began his career at Florida State as a walk-on. He rushed for 1,241 yards and 12 touchdowns during his time at FSU. The majority of that production came over the past 2 seasons.
Benson, Lawrance Toafili and Rodney Hill are expected to be the primary options at running back for Florida State in 2023.
