Trey Benson joins exclusive club with monster performance
Trey Benson had an insane performance against the Virginia Tech Hokies in Week 6. The running back went for 200 yards on just 11 carries, averaging a whopping 18.2 yards per carry. The back found the end zone twice and also caught 3 passes.
Benson’s big day led the Seminoles to a convincing 39-17 win over the Hokies. With 200 yards, Benson became just the 2nd FSU RB since the 1980s to have a 200+ yard game, with the other being Dalvin Cook.

Cook is all the all-time leading rusher for the Noles, so this is impressive company for Benson. Cook starred for the Seminoles from 2014-16, racking up 4,464 rushing yards, being selected a unanimous All-American, and earning 2 First-team All-ACC nods.
Benson has taken 51 carries for 389 yards and 6 TDs this season. Before the Virginia Tech game, Benson’s season-high in rushing was just 79 yards. The junior transfer spent the first 2 seasons of his college career for the Oregon Ducks, not seeing much action. In 2022, Benson’s first with the Noles, the back rushed 154 times for 990 yards and 9 TDs.
Benson and star QB Jordan Travis have combined to give the Noles the No. 6 scoring offense in the nation.
