Florida coach Dan Mullen is doing some damage control on Monday afternoon.

Mullen is taking some heat on social media after dismissing a reporter’s question about recruiting during his weekly press conference on Monday.

“We’re in the season now. We’ll do recruiting after the season,” Mullen said. “When it gets to recruiting time we can talk about recruiting.”

As a result, the Gators have cancelled all media availability for the rest of the week.

Here’s the original exchange:

The heat seems to be piling up on Mullen as the Gators currently sport a 4-4 overall record and 2-4 mark in the SEC. The Gators got blown out by No. 1 Georgia 34-7 over the weekend.

Florida currently has just 13 commitments in its 2022 recruiting class, which ranks No. 9 in the SEC according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Mullen is in his fourth year at the helm in Gainesville. He won double-digit games in his first two seasons but went just 8-4 last season.

The Gators figure to be heavy favorites in their next three games before facing Florida State on Nov. 27. Mullen is 2-2 vs. the Seminoles, but FSU has won five of the last seven meetings in the rivalry.
