Georgia Tech is off to a good start in Year 3 under coach Geoff Collins.
That includes both on-field results and the recruiting trail, where the Yellow Jackets have found success so far in this cycle. Collins and his staff have commitments from five blue-chip prospects and have put together a top-30 class with just 16 commitments so far, according to 247Sports Composite rankings
.
Georgia Tech’s 2022 class is strengthened by in-state talent. The Yellow Jackets have nine total commitments from the Peach State, including their top three commitments in this cycle so far.
Here’s a breakdown of Georgia Tech’s 2022 recruiting class as it stands in mid-October:
Class ranking: No. 6 ACC, No. 28 nationally
Total commits: 16
Blue-chip commits (4-and-5-star prospects): 5
Highest-rated offensive player: 4-star LB Jaron Willis | No. 158 overall | No. 19 LB | Leesburg, Georgia
Highest-rated defensive player:
4-star WR Janiran Bonner | No. 236 overall | No. 37 WR | Ellenwood, Georgia
Final thoughts: Georgia Tech is closing in on its second top-30 recruiting class in the last three cycles. If Georgia Tech is able to pull that off, it would represent a level of recruiting that it never had under coach Paul Johnson. The Yellow Jackets may even have a shot at a top-25 class if they’re able to supplement their current quality with more quantity.
