Georgia Tech basketball lost a commitment from a 2023 shooting guard by the name of Blue Cain on Tuesday. Cain had been committed to the Yellowjackets since June and even signed a letter of intent.

Cain is rated as a 4-star shooting guard per the 247Sports Composite. Cain announced his decision to reopen his recruitment via social media. Here’s what he had to say:

“I want to thank Coach Pastner, Coach Swartz, and the rest of the entire Georgia Tech staff,” said Cain. “Thank you all for the support you all showed from the very beginning. Due to the recent events, I have requested release from my NLI with Georgia Tech. With that being said, my recruitment is open again with Georgia Tech included.”

The recent events that Cain is referring to would be the firing of head coach Josh Pastner. Pastner coached at Georgia Tech for the last seven seasons. Former Arizona PG Damon Stoudamire was announced as the program’s next head coach on Monday.

Cain attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Cain made sure to let fans know that Georgia Tech is still included in the recruiting process. Other schools to have offered Cain so far include Tennessee, East Tennessee State, Howard, South Carolina, and Syracuse.

247Sports ranks Cain as the No. 12 SG and No. 9 prospect out of Florida in his class.
