Former Georgia Tech star Demaryius Thomas to be inducted into Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

Georgia Tech football great Demaryius Thomas will be inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in February, the university announced Friday.

Thomas, a member of the program from 2006-2009, along with Shawn J

ones, part of the 1990 national championship team, will be enshrined on Feb. 25 during an induction ceremony in Macon, Ga.

Thomas, one of the program’s all-time top wide receivers, finished his college career with 2,342 yards, currently 4th-all time in Georgia Tech history. He also ranks 2nd in single-season yardage behind Calvin Johnson.

He was taken 22nd overall in the 2010 NFL Draft — just t

he 12th player in program history to be taken in the 1st round — and was a 2-time All-Pro selection while playing in 4 Pro Bowls. His most famous play was catching an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tim Tebow in the Denver Broncos’ AFC Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Jan. 2012.

Tragically, Thomas passed away at his Atlanta-area home in Dec. 2021 at just 33 years old.
