Georgia Tech announces first set of captains for 2023 season

Georgia Tech will be playing in its season opener on Friday. The captains for Week 1 were announced on social media Wednesday.

Key will be having different captains for each game on the schedule. For Week 1, it will be safety Miles Brooks and tight end Dylan Leonard.

Brooks had 52 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 3 interceptions last season. Leonard played in 9 games for the Yellowjackets last season and will be a veteran presence among TEs.

Georgia Tech will be facing an ACC team early. Louisville is coming to Atlanta to take on the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech has never lost to Louisville in football. The program is 2-0 all-time against the Cardinals.

The teams have met in 2020 and 2018, with both outings ending in a lopsided G

eorgia Tech win.

Brent Key will be trying to keep things that way as the first game of his tenure as full-time head coach begins on Friday. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
