Georgia Tech defense sets record with recent streak of bad performances

Georgia Tech’s defense has been historically bad over the final two months of the season.

The Yellow Jackets have allowed 480+ yards in seven consecutive games, which is reportedly the longest such streak by an ACC team since at least 2004.

That’s according to ESPN’s David Hale, who notes there’s only been a few teams who have matched or beaten Georgia Tech’s streak of defensive futility:

The Yellow Jackets are 1-6 over this stretch with their only win coming vs. Duke back on Oct. 9. The Blue Devils are winless in ACC play.

Third-year coach Geoff Collins has struggled to establish consistency in t

he program. Georgia Tech is 9-24 during his tenure and has never won more than 3 games in a single season.

Collins is likely to get a fourth year in charge, but he could be on the hot seat entering the 2022 season. Prior to coming to Georgia Tech, he was 15-10 in two seasons as Temple’s head coach.

Georgia Tech ends its 2021 season with No. 1 Georgia on Saturday.
