Georgia Tech lands commitment from 3-star edge defender out of Illinois

Georgia Tech has landed a commitment from 3-star 2024 edge defender William Depaepe.

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound defender from Moline (Ill.) Senior announced his commitment to the Yellow Jackets on Monday. He’s the second verbal pledge for coach Brent Key in the last week. Depaepe selected Tech over interest from Ball State and Michigan State.

In the industry-generated 247 Composite, Depaepe ranks as the No. 19 recruit from the state of Illinois and the No. 84 defensive lineman in the class. He’s the No. 868 overall recruit in the country.

Depaepa seemed to click with defensive line coach Marco Coleman — back at Tech this season after a 1-year stay with Michigan State. When Coleman got back to Atlanta, he became the first to offer Depaepe, and that relationship paid off.

He joins Jordan Boyd, Demontrae Gaston, Aaron Philo — who committed last week — Tah’j Butler, and Santana Alo-Tupuola as known commitments for Georgia Tech this recruiting cycle. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
