Georgia Tech landed a commitment from Forsyth (Ga.) Mary Persons running back Duke Watson on Saturday.
The 2024 running back held more than a dozen FBS offers. He chose the Yellow Jackets over interest from Boston College, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss, among others.
Watson is a 6-foot, 180-pound back who has been tremendously productive over his last two seasons. As a sophomore, Watson carried the ball 230 times for 1,716 yards and 25 touchdowns. He topped 100 yards 9 times in 11 games. Then, as a junior last fall, Watson went for another 1,669 yards and 14 scores, with 100-yard performances 8 times in 11 outings.
He’s also added 3 receiving touchdowns over the course of the past 2 seasons.
247Sports has yet to give Watson a rating, meaning he’s also unranked in the industry-generated 247 Composite. That will likely change soon now that he’s part of a Power 5 class.
Watson becomes the 2nd known commitment for Georgia Tech’s Class of 2024. He joins 4-star quarterback Jahkari Williams.
