Georgia Tech names starting QB for opening bout vs. Louisville

Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key named Texas A&M transfer Haynes King the starter for the Yellow Jackets’ season opener against Louisville on Friday, Sept. 1.

King struggled at Texas A&M and entered the portal following last season. He threw for 1,220 yards with 7 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 2022 and was a 4-star prospect out of high school.

King beat out Zach Pyron for the starting job. Pyron is entering his 2nd year with the Yellow Jackets and made appearances in 3 games for GT last season.

Key is still confident he will play great football at GT, too.

The Yellow Jackets will take on the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN next Friday night.
