Georgia Tech picks up pledge from in-state DB, flips 3-star prospect from UVA

Georgia Tech has another piece to the recruiting puzzle, landing an in-state player for the 2024 recruiting class on Tuesday!

The player is Cedric Franklin II, a 6-foot-1 and 180-pound safety out of Kell High School in Marietta. Franklin had been committed to Virginia since the summer but reopened his recruitment over the weekend and is now on his way to the Yellow Jackets.

“GT was the clear choice,” Franklin noted on social media. “Even though they offered me late, when I was offered they made to let me know I was a top priority and they were open and honest with me throughout the whole process…Last but not least, I love the direction in which the program is headed and can’t wait to be a part of the success.”

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Franklin is a 3-star recruit and the No. 126 safety in the country. He’s also rated the 140th overall player out of Georgia for the class of 2024.
