Georgia Tech running back Jahmyr Gibbs is entering the transfer portal.

He announced that decision on Monday afternoon.

“I have loved my time here at Georgia Tech,” Gibbs wrote in-part. “I have made life long friends with my teammates and coaches, especially Coach Choice, RBI and DB. Thank y’all for believing in me and showing me nothing but love through the good and bad times.”

Gibbs is one of the most underrated players in the country. He totaled 1,211 yards from scrimmage this season and scored 6 touchdowns for a Yellow Jackets offense that often struggled to find the end zone.

He also racked up 539 kick return yards. His 1,805 all purpose yards this season is good enough for No. 3 nationally and No. 2 amongst Power 5 players.

Gibbs is originally from Dalton, Georgia. It’s too early to speculate where he could end up next, but he’s likely to be one of the most sought-after players in the country for this cycle.

This is a huge loss for Georgia Tech and coach Geoff Collins, who may be on the hot seat entering next season. Collins has won exactly 3 games in each of his first 3 seasons at the helm.
